After a superb winter season. with good weather and great snow cover from beginning to end, Glencoe Moutain Resort today held an open day to demonstrate that it's more than a one trick pony.

It was great to see the centre buzzing with activity, with bikes and bows taking centre stage. Among the new activties on offer is archery. At first glance the targets don't look like they're going to be too hard to hit, but soon proved to be a bit elusive, especially that yellow bit in the middle. (I reckon there was a cross wind when I was having a go!)
For the more adventurous there's bikes for hire. At present there are route options varying from the extreme (the downhill route used by the Scottish Downhill Association in their recent championship race) to the gentle (explore Rannoch Moor on some of the easier moorland tracks).

I opted for a track I haven't been on for many years. In fact I think the last time I was there was in the 1980's as we ascended on touring skis on a wild windy day. However, though a little challenging at times, the weasel track is good fun for more experienced mountain bikers, and is earmarked for development as the centre re-estblishes itself as a fully formed activity centre.

But when all is said and done. the centre is still a great place to go and take a ride on the chairlift, walk to the viewpoint for a most spectacular view and then return to the cafe for a coffee and some home baking. Sounds good to me!
