The skiers might have packed up for the season (despite the snow still on the hill) but the car park at Glencoe Mountain, Scotland's longest established ski centre, was again full last weekend.

The centre was buzzing again as it played host to the 2nd round of the SDA Scottish Downhill Mountain Bike Championships. For the most part the weather behaved making it a fantastic setting for the competition. With the backdrop of Rannoch Moor, snow on the mountain and the ever present shape of Buachaille Etive Mor keeping eyes focussed on the track must have been a bit of a challenge in itself.

For avid fans, there's a full report on the Descent World web site and some more event photos here. The 'black' route is now open for the season. For mere mortals, Glencoe Mountain will be providing a hire bike facility with a new fleet of Kona bikes enabling you to explore the easier tracks on the West Highland Way or perhaps visiting Glen Etive.

The recently revitalised ski centre has further plans for expanding the range of activities available to visitors, including archery. More details soon. However, in the meantime, you can always just pop in, enjoy the views and visit the cafe!

Works for me!
